Zachary Mace
ASSISTANT COACH
Coach Mace was born and raised in the great basketball state of Indiana. His Bachelor's in Secondary Mathematics Education was earned at Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana. In the Spring of 2012, he made the move to Texas, commencing his coaching career as the Girls JV coach and Varsity First Assistant at Aldine Senior High School. Transitioning to the role of Freshman B, Sophomore, and JV Boys Coach from the fall of 2014 through 2017, he gained valuable experience. In 2017, Coach Mace joined the Cypress Park High School Boys Basketball program as the JV coach and Varsity First Assistant, contributing to leading the Varsity team five rounds deep into the State Playoffs in 2021. He has maintained the position of First Assistant at Cypress Park High School, achieving District Championships at every sub-varsity level throughout his coaching career. In the Spring of 2021, he became a part of Fam Elite. As an aspiring head coach, Coach Mace's philosophy revolves around preparing students for tomorrow while caring for them today. Emphasizing character molding, he instills productive principles and values while providing positive examples to those under his supervision. Using basketball as a tool, he aims to teach life skills and help students build character to become better individuals. His coaching approach involves implementing a "blue-collar team concept" attitude, stressing that no player is above the team. Every player receives love, discipline, and respect. While winning is not the ultimate goal, it becomes the inevitable by-product of their unyielding commitment to giving their best and becoming the best. To achieve this, they focus on being Relentless in effort, Diligent in preparation, and Enthusiastic in their approach.
